要是你给老鼠吃一块饼干，会发生什么事情呢？——他会接着要一杯牛奶，再接着要吸管、纸巾，然后要一面镜子照照脸上有没有牛奶沫，结果发现要剪头发了，于是接着找你要剪刀理发……一直折腾到最后你困了、他渴了，然后他会要求再来一杯牛奶，再吃点饼干，于是抓狂的新一轮循环请求又开始了。

【绘本内容】

If you give a mouse a cookie,he’s going to ask for a glass of milk.

要是你给老鼠吃饼干，他会要杯牛奶。

When you give him the milk,he’s probably ask you for a straw.

等到你给他牛奶，他会问你要根麦管。

When he’s finished,he’ll ask for a napkin.

吃完了，喝完了，他会要块餐巾。

Then he’ll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn’t have a milk mustache.

他还要照镜子，不要有牛奶沾在他的胡子上。

When he looks into the mirror, he might notice his hair needs a trim.

他一照镜子，会看到他的头发得要剪一剪。

So he’ll probably ask for a pair of nail scissors.

他就会问你借把小剪刀。

When he’s finished giving himself a trim,he’ll want a broom sweep up.He’ll start sweeping.

等到头发剪好了，他会要把扫帚把地扫干净。

He might get carried away and sweep every room in the house.

他一动起手来，可就来劲了，把整座房子一个个房间都扫遍。

He may even end up washing the floors as well!

不但扫，还会用水把地板大刷大洗！

When he’s done,he’ll probably want to take a nap.

他干累了，会要睡会儿。

You’ll have to fix up a little box for him with a blanket and a pillow.

那你就得给他个空盒子做床，再加上毯子和枕头。

He’ll crawl in,make himself comfortable and fluff the pillow a few times.He’ll probably ask you to read him a story.

他于是爬进盒子，躺得舒舒服服，还把枕头拍啊拍拍松。他还会请你给他念个故事。

So you’ll read to him from one of your books, and he’ll ask to see the pictures.

你只好拿出书来念给他听，这时他会想要看看书上的图画。

When he looks at the pictures,he’ll get so excited he’ll want to draw one of his own.He’ll ask for paper and crayons.

他一看图画，起劲得要自己动手画一幅。他会要你给他纸和蜡笔。

He’ll draw a picture.

他动手就画起来。

When the picture is finished,

等到画画好，

he’ll want to sign his name

他要签上他的大名，

with a pen.

而且用钢笔。

Then he’ll want to hang his picture on your refrigerator.

于是他要把他这幅画，贴到你的冰箱上。

Which means he’ll need scotch tape.

这就要用上胶带纸。

He’ll hang up his drawing and stand back to look at it.

Looking at the refrigerator will remind him that he’s thirsty.

等到他的画贴好，他会退后两步欣赏它。这么看着冰箱，他会想起来他口渴了。

So…he’ll ask for a glass of milk.

于是……他会要杯牛奶喝。

And chances are if he asks for a glass of milk,

既然他要喝牛奶，

he’s gong to want a cookie to go with it.

自然会要块饼干来一起吃。

If you give a mouse a cookie, he`s going to ask for a glass of milk…and that`s only the beginning!
