【绘本内容翻译】
This is Kipper’s little friend，Arnold.

Arnold has found an ant.

A a is for ant. And Arnold.

这是小狗奇普的小伙伴，阿诺德。阿诺德发现了一只蚂蚁。A a对应着ant（蚂蚁）和Arnold（阿诺德）。

B b is for box and

buzzzzzzzzzzz……

They put the ant in the box，

and followed the bumblebee.

B b对应着box（盒子）和buzz（嗡嗡声）。他们把蚂蚁放在盒子里，接着是大黄蜂。

It flew away.

“Let’s find something

beginning with C，” said Kipper.

But the caterpillar had

already found them！

C c is for Crawly caterpillar.

它飞走了。“我们找找以C开头的东西吧，”奇普说道。不过，毛毛虫已经找到他们了！C c对应着crawly caterpillar（吓人的毛毛虫）。

D d is for duck.

“Duck！” said Arnold.

The duck was too big

to fit into Arnold’s box.

And so was the …

D d对用着duck（鸭子）。“鸭子！”阿诺德叫道。这个鸭子太大了，装不进阿诺德的盒子里。同样地，

enormous elephant.

Where is the ant？

E e is for empty.

E e is for elephant.

巨大的大象。蚂蚁去哪里了？E e对应着empty（空空的）。E e对应着elephant（大象）。

The frog would have fit

in Arnold’s box，

but Kipper couldn’t catch it.

It was too fast！

F f is for frog.

这个青蛙能够装进阿诺德的盒子里，但是奇普捉不住它，它太快了！F f对应着frog（青蛙）。

Arnold was still wondering

where the ant had gone，

when a little green grasshopper

jumped straight into his box.

“Good！” said Kipper.

G g is for grasshopper.

当一只绿色的小蚱蜢跳进阿诺德的盒子里的时候，他仍然在想那只蚂蚁去哪里了。“太好了！”奇普叫到。G g对应着grasshopper（蚱蜢）。

H h is for hill and happy.

They skipped all the way

to the top of Big Hill，

and down the other side.

H h对应着hill（山）和happy（快乐的）。他们一路蹦着跳着到了大山顶上，然后从山的另一面下去。

Arnold found another

interesting insect.

He opened his box and

put the interesting insect inside.

I i is for insect.

阿诺德发现了另一只有趣的昆虫。他打开盒子，并把这只有趣的昆虫放了进去。I i对应着insect（昆虫）。

轮到我了吗？不，还没有。

They went home for a drink of juice.

Arnold helped himself

to some jam，too.

J j is for juice.

And a bit of jam，too.

他们回家喝了杯果汁。阿诺德还吃了一些果酱。J j对应着juice（果汁）和一点儿jam（果酱）。

Kipper couldn’t think of

anything beginning with K.

Can you think of anything？

奇普想不到任何以K开头的东西。你能想到吗？K k对应着……

L was easy.

Outside there were lots of ladybugs.

Lots and lots.

Arnold put one in his box.

L l is for lots of ladybugs.

L很简单。外面有许多，许多的瓢虫。阿诺德放了一个到他的盒子里。L l对应着lots of（许多的）ladybugs（瓢虫）。

Arnold found some

little muddy mountains.

He was so busy playing that

he didn’t even notice the mole.

M m is for mole and mud.

阿诺德发现了一些小土堆。他玩得不亦可乎，都没发现到那只鼹鼠。M m对应着mole（鼹鼠）和mud（泥）。

“Is it my turn now？” said the zebra.

“No，not now！” said Kipper.

“You don’t begin with N.”

N n is for No，not now！

I’m a gnat，and I don’t begin with N either.

“现在该轮到我了吧？”斑马问道。“不，不是现在！”奇普答道。“你不是以N开头的。”N n对应着No，not now！（不，不是现在！）我是一只gnat（叮人小虫），我也不是以N开头的。

Arnold climbed on the swing.

And then he fell off again.

O o is for on…and off.

And oo is for oops!

阿诺德爬上了秋千，然后他又摔下来了。O o对应着on（在……上面）和off（从……落下），oo对应着oops（哎哟）。

Arnold was upset.

He sat up puffing and

panting and a little pink.

So kipper took him to

his favorite place. The pond.

P p is for puff，pant，pink and pond.

阿诺德很难过。他气喘吁吁地坐起来，变得有点儿粉。因此，奇普带他去了他喜欢的地方，池塘。P p对应着puff（喷气），pant（喘气）和pond（池塘）。

Quack！Quack！Quack！Quack！

Is that Arnold’s ant？

Quack！Quack！Quack！

Q q is for quite！

And quack，of course.

呱！呱！呱！呱！那是阿诺德的蚂蚁吗？呱！呱！呱！Q q对应着quite（安静）！和quack（呱呱叫）。

It started to rain.

R r is for rainbow.

开始下雨了。R r对应着rainbow（彩虹）。

They splashed home

through the puddles.

S s is for splish！splosh！splash！

And six squishy slugs.

他们一路踩着水花回家。S s对应着splish!splosh!splash!（咔嚓噗通，水花的声音，拟声词）和six squishy slugs（六只黏糊糊的鼻涕虫）。

At home Kipper got out his toys.

T t is for toys.

到家后奇普拿出了他的玩具。T t对应着toys（玩具）。

“I know what begins with U！” said Kipper.

“Umbrella！” They played under the umbrella，

while the rain poured down outside.

U u is for under the umbrella.

“我知道什么以U开头！”奇普喊道。“雨伞！”虽然外面下着雨，他们仍然在伞下玩了起来。U u对应着under the umbrella（在伞的下面）。

“V is very，very hard，” said Kipper.

“Do you think we could find a volcano？”

Arnold shook his head.

So they made a picture of one instead.

V v is for volcano！

“V很难，”奇普说道。“你觉得我们能够找到一个火山吗？”阿诺德摇了摇他的脑袋。取而代之，他们画了一个火山的图。V v对应着volcano（火山）。

The rain stopped.

They looked out the window

to see what they could see for W.

W w is for wiggly worm.

Not long now！

雨停了。他们看向窗外，想要找找什么以W开头。W w对应着wiggly worm（蠕动的虫子）。马上就到了！

But what begins with X？

Kipper thought and thought.

He thought of box，

which ends with X，

and he thought of socks，

which doesn’t.

“I know！” he said suddenly.

Kipper picked up the interesting insect.

X x is for xugglybug!

那什么以X开头呢？奇普想了又想。他想到了以X结尾的box（盒子），他也想到了socks（袜子），但却不是的。“我知道了！”他突然叫到。奇普把那只有趣的虫子捡起来。X x对应着xugglybug（类似the ugly bug，那只丑虫子，奇普的自造词）。

“It must be my turn by now！”

said the zebra.

“Is it my turn？Is it？Is it？”

Y y is for Yes！

“现在肯定轮到我了吧！”斑马说道。“轮到我了吗？到了我吗？到我了吗？”Y y对应着Yes（是的）！

So the zebra stood

in the middle of the page，

and we all said，Z z is for Zebra！

于是斑马站在了页面的中间，我们一起说道，Z z对应着Zebra（斑马）！

And for Arnold’s little Zoo，too.

同样的，阿诺德的小Zoo（动物园）也是。
